Penetrant Testing- PT
Penetrant Testing (PT) also called liquid penetrate inspection (LPI) is a widely applied inspection method used to check for surface-breaking flaws and defects in both non-ferrous (non-magnetic) materials and ferrous (magnetic) materials.
The method involves the application of penetrant to a clean test specimen by dipping, spraying, or brushing. After adequate penetration time has been allowed, the excess penetrant is removed and a developer is applied. The developer helps to draw penetrant out of a flaw so that an invisible indication becomes visible to the inspector.
The Penetrant Testing (PT) method is commonly used in the following industries:
* Aerospace
* Aviation
* Petrochemical
* Utilities
* Automotive
* Ship Building
